The development of the CASA Learning Lab grew out of a passion for education. Donors, Rick and Pam Lohman celebrated their 35th Wedding Anniversary and wanted to commemorate this momentous milestone through philanthropy, while building a legacy. They pledged $3500 a year for 10 years to fund tutors for school aged children in the foster care system. Through ties in the community and with a small network of educators, the CASA Learning Lab was established in 2020. In our first year, we enrolled five children into our tutoring program.
In a continued effort to recruit more school aged children into our program, alternative teaching environments and virtual learning options are being explored. Transportation to and from sessions have been the program's biggest obstacle.
